Executive Director
Michael L. Dixon
Michael L. DixonMike has worked with youth organizations for more than 20 years and has created youth programs, recruited students and adult volunteers and has organized and coordinated the varied aspects of the program. He has held many leadership positions in youth organizations, as well as organized and run international youth leadership conferences and major youth development activities. Mike was a successful business manager for 20 years before he became the full-time Executive Director of YLI.





Global Programs Liaison
Neal F. Jarvis
Neal F. JarvisNeal has volunteered with YLI since 1996. He brings with him years of experience working with youth organizations. He has organized many YLI activities and has traveled with the students. Neal came on board the YLI staff in the fall of 2003 and he continues to be a huge asset to the YLI staff.







Communications
Charles J. Hall
Charles J. HallCharles was a student in the class of 2006. His first experience with YLI was in the summer of 2004. After becoming the editor-in-chief of the Leaders’ EZINE in 2005 it became clear to the staff that he was an asset to keep. He then assisted at the WLC 2006 and continued to develop the YLI website, and came on-board YLIHQ staff to run YLI's communications.

Jerold J. Samet

Jerold J. Samet Jerry has been involved in the support of many youth oriented organizations since the 1960’s. He is a community leader in Montgomery County, Maryland, where he resides and is well respected in many social circles around the world.

 






Assistant to the Chairman
Gary C. Cooper, Jr.
Gary C. Cooper, JrGary came to the Washington DC area in 2000 and became a member of Jerry’s staff in April of 2002. Since 2001 he has served as a staff member at many of YLI's Global Programs and continues to be a big supporter of the program.








Legal Counsel
Paul M. Bessel
Paul M. BesselPaul had been a volunteer with YLI since the WLC in 2000 and shortly after became a member of Jerry’s staff as his legal counsel. He has been a huge supporter to Jerry and YLI for many years and YLI has been very fortunate to have his legal expertise working on their behalf.







Council Members
George R. Adams
George R. AdamsGeorge has been a volunteer with YLI since 1996. He worked with the Chairman, Executive Director and the many other volunteers of the day to get YLI started. He has run many of the conference sessions. George continues to support YLI thru his efforts in Estate Planning.






Grant R. Berning
Grant R. BerningGrant has been a supporter with YLI since 2000. He has continues to look for funding for the summer conferences. He has traveled with the students many times and videotaped the programs so the students would have a living souvenir of their experiences.







Paul D. Dolinsky
Paul D. DolinskyPaul has been a volunteer with YLI since 2004. Paul has organized the tour of Washington DC for the students each summer. His expertise of the history Washington DC and the architecture of the monuments have proved an invaluable source of support.








Dan E. Houlahan
Dan E. HoulahanDan has been a volunteer with YLI since 1996. He has been the Director of the World Leaders Conference since 2000. Dan brings a wealth of knowledge dealing with the issues kids face in the world today with his job at The Department of Health and Human Services.







Theodore M. Kahn
Theodore M. KahnTed has been a volunteer with YLI since 1996. He spends countless hours managing the funds YLI uses to support the many students across the globe. Without his tireless efforts YLI would not be able to share the wealth of life experiences the students gain with the program.






Donald L. Mallorey
Donald L. MalloreyDon has volunteered with YLI since 1996. He has traveled with the students on many of occasions. He lends his experience of 40 years of volunteer work with youth related groups. He continues the students greeting the students when they arrive to the WLC each summer.






Gerhard Meinzer
Gerhard MeinzerGerhard has been a volunteer with YLI since 1996. He has traveled with the students over the years to many countries. He is always willing to accept new challenges and fulfill any task, large or small, that will help to create a positive experience for the students.







Sherry M. Mueller
Sherry M. MuellerSherry has volunteered with YLI since 2004. Sherry offers YLI the experience she brings from her professional position at the National Council for International Visitors. Sherry has spent several decades working with young people from the international community.







Kathleen Kennedy Townsend
Kathleen Kennedy TownsendKathleen has volunteered with YLI since 2003. She brings with her many years of support of her fellow man both locally and internationally. She has been a motivational speaker to the students at the WLC and LST on many occasions.







Thomas R. Russo
Thomas R. RussoTommy has volunteered with YLI since 1999. Tommy has supported YLI over the years with his knowledge of computers. He has travel with the students on many of the conferences. He has served as the Director of the WCE since 2002.

Dan Houlahan
Dan E. HoulahanDan has been a volunteer with YLI since 1996. He has been the Director of the World Leaders Conference since 2000. Dan brings a wealth of knowledge dealing with the issues kids face in the world today with his job at The Department of Health and Human Services.

Irina Kozyreva
Irina Kozyreva served jointly as the class counsel of the Moscow chapter in 2002. She then went on to serve as the counselor for the class of 2005. In 2006 and 2007 she served as the Assistant Director of the WCE. This year she will serve as the Assistant Director of the WLC.







WLC Interns
Simon O'Conner
Simon O'ConnerA YLI graduate from the Class of 2007, Simon is an excellent student from Sydney, Australia. An avid swimmer, he teaches both swimming and water-polo for children and teenagers. He is instrumental in serving his community through various organizations and looks towards becoming an officer in the Australian Army Reserves.






Shakked Auerback
Since graduating from YLI as part of the Israeli Class of 2007, Shakked has been initiating various community projects in her hometown of Modi'in to help the youth of her community. A senior in high school, she looks towards spending a year of community service before spending her compulsory service in the Israeli Army.







WCE Director
David Smyth
David Smyth is the Vice Principle of Melbourne High School. David was the Melbourne chapter counselor for the class of 2004. David joined the team as Assistant Director of the WLC in 2005 and 2006. He has made a huge impact on the new counselors with his counselor training sessions. In 2008 David will serve as the Assistant Director at the WCE.

WCE Interns
Andrei Soltan
A graduate of YLI as part of the Class of 2007 from Chisinau, Moldova, Andrei has volunteered with a variety of musical and theatrical projects in his hometown. A senior in high school, he has helped following YLI classes in their projects and planning.









LST Director
John Gibson
John GibsonJohn Gibson is from Sydney Australia. He has taught for many years at Knox’s Grammar School. John is extremely enthusiastic about the subject that he has taught for many years (History). John became the first counselor of the Sydney chapter in the summer of 2002. His students graduated YLI as the first class at Girton College in Cambridge in 2005. Since then, John has served as the LST Director.

Daniel McNamara
Daniel McNamara graduated from the Melbourne chapter class of 2005. He then served as an intern at the LST in the summers of 2006 and 2007. This year he will serve as the Assistant Director of the LST.










LST Interns
Alina Popescu
A YLI graduate from the Class of 2007, as part of the chapter from Turnu Severin, Romania, Alina has continued to actively take part in various debates and conferences in Romania and abroad. She has represented the youth of her country to the European Parliament and has been a vibrant participant in her home community. Alina is also a regular contributor to the Leaders' EZINE.





Sabrina Grecu
From the Turnu-Severin (Romania) chapter from the YLI Class of 2005, Sabrina is passionate about visual arts and making changes in her community for the better. Since graduating from high school, she has gone on to study History of Art and Modern Languages at the International University at Essex, UK.
